Are you an itel mobile phone user? If yes, then you might notice that the phone came with several pre-installed apps. Ever wondered where these come from? Many smartphones, including those from itel, come with built-in applications, often referred to as bloatware. Some users dislike these apps because they take up space on the device’s internal memory and typically can't be deleted, only disabled. However, I don't always see built-in apps as a negative. For instance, I’ve used the Xiaomi Mi A1, which has a clean interface without bloatware, but this means you often have to download third-party apps for features that could have been included, such as barcode scanning or voice recording. As a user of the itel RS4, I’ve explored the range of built-in apps available on this model. While the specific apps may vary between different itel models, many are generally the same. Here’s a rundown of some of these apps: Looking for a wide variety of games without the hassle of downloading them? AHA Games is built into your phone and offers an exciting game portal. From racing and adventure to fighting games, AHA Games has it all. While many games are simple, finding one you enjoy can be really addictive, encouraging you to beat every level. However, if you’re not a fan of ads, you might want to steer clear of this app. For example, playing "Tower Hero" was fun but the frequent ads between levels were a bit much. This app lets you browse your photos, screenshots, and videos. Under the Photos tab, media is organized by the date it was taken or downloaded. If you want to look through photos and videos in a specific folder, just switch to the Albums tab. AI Gallery also provides features to hide media, create photo collages with templates, and compress images to save space. It even has a "photo cleaning" feature to delete duplicates, poor quality shots, and unwanted downloads from apps like WhatsApp with just a few taps. The built-in camera app allows you to take photos and videos with features tailored to your specific phone model. On the itel RS4, for example, you can use portrait mode, Super Night, Film, Pro mode, and even Sky Shop. The camera app also includes a QR code scanner, eliminating the need for a separate third-party app. From my experience, this built-in camera app includes all the essential features, so there’s no need for additional camera software. CarlCare is a warranty service app common to brands under Transsion Holdings, like itel, Infinix, and Tecno. To use this app, you’ll need to provide location permissions because CarlCare helps locate the nearest authorized electronics stores for phone repairs. Through the app, you can also schedule phone repairs online and take advantage of CarlCare’s free pick-up delivery service! These built-in applications on itel phones provide a variety of functions that cater to different needs, from entertainment to essential services. On itel phones, you won't find separate apps for time and a stopwatch because these functions are included in the built-in Clock app. Looking to set an alarm? The Clock app has you covered. Personally, I prefer to set alarms using Google Assistant with voice commands. This app is integrated with voice assistant services, making alarm setup instantaneous. Just say the time you want to wake up, and the alarm is set automatically. For Muslim users, the Clock app also offers some very helpful features, such as displaying prayer times, showing the Hijri calendar date, and even pointing you in the direction of the Qibla! The itel phone that I use has a built-in Compass app. Its main function is to show the cardinal directions accurately. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have many other features. I initially thought the Compass could indicate the Qibla direction, but that feature is actually included in the Clock app. When you first use the Compass, you need to calibrate it by moving the phone in a figure-eight pattern, which helps ensure better accuracy. The Contacts app is the most practical way to manage the phone numbers of friends, family, or colleagues. Even though it’s built-in, it’s just as good as third-party contact apps. You can add or edit contacts, block numbers, merge duplicate contacts, sync your contacts to the cloud, and choose where your contacts are stored—be it on your phone, SIM card, or a Google account. Need to find a recently downloaded file or access files quickly without hassle? The File Manager app is what you need. In the 'Recents' section, you can view and sort all the files that have entered your phone in the last 30 days. You can also sort files by size, name, and type. Under the 'Browse' tab, you can access all your files by category, like images, documents, audio, video, zips, APKs, and more. The File Manager also lets you view files from external devices like USB drives connected via OTG (on-the-go). However, this app doesn’t support accessing files on cloud storage like Google Drive. If the File Manager doesn’t meet all your needs, there’s also the Files app from Google. It's unclear why the itel RS4 has two built-in file management apps, but the Google Files app offers some unique features. It allows access to cloud storage and can automatically scan physical documents. Hola Browser is a built-in web browser from itel that lets users browse web pages while saving data. It features a 'no image' mode, which prevents images on web pages from loading to conserve data. Other great features include a 'Status saver' for saving WhatsApp statuses and an ad-blocking function to ensure a smooth, uninterrupted browsing experience. Don’t have a Spotify account or struggling with a low internet connection? No problem—you can still enjoy your tunes with the built-in Music app. As the name suggests, this app plays all the MP3 files stored on your phone. It also acts as a media controller that lets you play music in the background, pause, skip to the next track, or set songs on repeat. However, be aware that the Music app displays ads when you first open it. Notepad is the go-to app for jotting down notes on your phone. You can format your notes as a to-do list and even set alarms for individual tasks if you switch to this format. The app allows you to add media files like images and audio recordings to your notes. You can also bold, italicize, or underline text for emphasis. Once you're done, you can save your notes in separate folders to keep them organized and easy to find later. Similar to the Google Play Store, the Palm Store is a marketplace for downloading apps and games. It offers a variety of both free and paid options. The app includes a category tab that helps you easily find the apps you need. If you're unsure what to download, the interface highlights trending apps and new releases. There’s even an "Offline" tab with features and content that don’t require an internet connection. The Phone app is pretty straightforward—it’s used to make or receive calls. One feature I particularly like is the automatic call recording option. With this feature enabled, the app will record all voice calls automatically, so you don’t have to press anything. If you prefer manual control, you can turn off automatic recording or start recording during a call by tapping the fingerprint sensor. Think of Phone Master as the maintenance crew for your phone. Running out of storage? Phone lagging? An app draining your battery or data too quickly? Open Phone Master. This app helps you optimize your phone's memory for smoother app performance. It identifies apps that are heavy on battery usage, allowing you to shut them down. Plus, if you encounter glitches or bugs, you can use its built-in antivirus to scan for viruses and clear out junk files to free up internal memory. Do you need to record audio for your TikTok videos? No need to download extra apps—the built-in Recorder app has you covered. While recording, you can tag specific moments in real time, which is handy for highlighting when it’s your turn to speak or noting key points during an interview. However, you can’t add notes to these tags. Every Android phone comes with the Settings app. This app is your control center, where you can manage everything from Wi-Fi and fingerprint data to gestures and other special features. The SIM Toolkit app is something you might not use often, unless you've just got a new phone number. For example, when you buy a new phone, you might need to register it, and this is the app you’ll use for that. Besides the Camera app, you can use the Smart Scanner to read QR codes and scan physical documents. If a scan isn’t perfectly aligned, the app lets you adjust the edges of the frame to prevent distortion and ensure the scan looks as good as if it were done on a conventional scanner. If you’re a music lover who uses earphones, but aren’t fully satisfied with their sound quality, try the Sound Amplifier app to improve your listening experience. This app allows you to test your earphones' microphone quality and activate noise cancellation. You can also adjust the audio output, enhancing higher tones or boosting lower frequencies to better suit your preferences. Visha Player is more than your typical video player; it offers a variety of Chinese content for free, including TV shows, dramas, documentaries, and music—great for those learning Chinese. If Chinese dramas aren't your thing, you can use it to play videos stored on your device. A unique feature of Visha Player is its ability to download subtitles directly within the app, so you don't have to hunt for them online. Additionally, the app lets you download video files and even convert them to MP3 (audio). I always check the weather forecast before I go out, and luckily, my itel phone comes with a built-in Weather app. The app provides a weather forecast for the next 72 hours, detailing whether you can expect rain, sunshine, or drizzle. Want more detailed info? It breaks down the likelihood of rain by the hour for each day and gives a seven-day overview. Welife connects your phone with a smart device ecosystem, including Smart TVs, lights, routers, smartwatches, and more. When you open the app, you’ll see a range of smart products from Transsion Holdings brands like Tecno, itel, and Infinix. In the earphones section, for instance, you’ll find products like TECNO True 1, Infinix Buds Lite, and itel BudsFire. Enjoy native radio with WOW FM without having to stream online. Just plug in your earphones, and you’re set to go. The interface is user-friendly, and you can even record live radio to listen to it later on your device. Similar to Apple's Quick Share feature, XShare facilitates fast and easy file sharing between devices. Before sharing, you'll need to activate Bluetooth. XShare enhances the typical Bluetooth sharing process by making it quicker and more user-friendly. You can even send installed apps to other smartphones. So, that’s a roundup of the built-in apps you’ll find on your phone, listed alphabetically. Hopefully, you find this guide helpful!1. AHA Games
