Largest "Known" #Databreach in 2023, so Far...and the industries reporting the most data breaches were #healthcare , with 379 incidents out of 1,393 reported in the first half of the year (not a surprise and if you'd like to know why I encourage my Italian conenctions to read the following post by Antonio Silvestro Amodeo https://lnkd.in/dhEDi36X). Online attacks accounted for about 75% of all breaches so far this year, and most of the rest were related to system or #humanerrors. Many breach notifications tied to supply chain attacks, and 108 different breaches affected a total of 402 organizations in case anyone should still have any doubts about the critical importance of #supplychain. Comparing the first half of 2023 with same period of 2022, the number of reported #ransomwareattack held steady, while malware jumped 89% as a cause (#ransomware threat actors might not be encrypting victims' data as much as they used to, but they're still making millions from their attacks) #governanceriskmanagementandcompliance #3rdpartyriskmanagement #cybersecurity #GDPR #breachnotification

๐จ Cybersecurity Update: A Mixed Bag in 2023 ๐จI've been closely monitoring the trends in data breaches and their impact on individuals and organizations alike. Today, I bring you a bit of a paradox in our 2023 cybersecurity landscape.๐ The good news first: the number of individuals impacted by data breaches in 2023 saw a significant decrease, dropping 16% compared to the previous year. This decline suggests that efforts to protect personal information are paying off, marking a victory for cybersecurity defenders everywhere.๐ But now, the bad news: despite the decrease in breach victims, the number of data compromises skyrocketed by 78%, setting a new, all-time high for the percentage increase. This stark contrast highlights a concerning trend - while fewer individuals are being impacted per incident, the overall number of breaches is escalating dramatically. This divergence signals a shift in the tactics of cyber adversaries, who are possibly targeting a wider array of smaller, possibly less-secured entities, or refining their methods to evade detection more effectively.๐ For a deeper dive into these findings and what they mean for businesses and cybersecurity strategies, check out the full article: https://lnkd.in/eFbpCJ_vAs we navigate this complex landscape, the importance of robust, proactive cybersecurity measures has never been clearer. At KPInterface, we're committed to staying ahead of these trends, offering the expertise and solutions needed to protect your digital assets in an ever-evolving threat environment.Stay informed, stay secure, and let's continue to push the boundaries of cybersecurity together.#WhyKPI #cybersecurity

Thank you, Nicola for always having concrete and enlightened thoughts. You are a great reference, in addition to having extensive knowledge and experience. Unfortunately, the #healthcare industry is at the center of cyber attacks worldwide, and despite handling highly sensitive #data, security is often treated as an afterthought. Regrettably, we are all too often inclined to share our personal data too easily, neglecting to adequately protect the most sensitive data of all โ our health data. Furthermore, the healthcare sector lags significantly behind in #cybersecurity, and there are technical issues to address (as explained here https://lnkd.in/dvqcEj5W ). In addition to this, we have many #humanerrors, as you rightly pointed out, and thatโs why we have these resultsโฆThere is much to be done, a great deal of awareness to be raised, and a culture to be shared

Funny when working with a client who happens to be a vendor of HCA, and this happens. โWhen I talk to business owners about security and the importance of safety, I can usually see a look in their eyes of, โIt wonโt happen to us,'" saidJay A.
